JiuzhaigousentrancegatewasbuiltshortlyafterJiuzhaigouwaslistedintotheWorldNaturalHeritageCatalogin1992.ThegatereflectsthefeaturesofTibetanremoteareas.Thebarkoflogswrapsroundthewholegatethatappearsprimitive,butalsodisplaystheflavorofthewmodernarts.Itseemstotellusthatyouwillfindyourselvesintheworldsmostexcitingandunspoilednature.Asyouknow,Jiuxhaigouhasbeencrownedwithseveraltitles:TheWorldNaturalHeritage,TheWorldBio-sphereReserve,theGreenGlobe21andTheState4A-LevelScenery.Besides,eachsiteandeachimageshowssomethingmore-thetrueessence,thespirit,andthemagicofJiuxhaigou,Jiuxhaigouswondersinspirethecountrystopphotographersandartistsbecausethebestoftheirworkishere.Othersexpresstheirfeelingsthroughwords,andtherearenumerousquotesfromwritersorvisitors.However,manyothersarticulatethislandthatseemsindescribable.Asthesayinggoes,itisbettertoseeoncethanhearahundredtimes.IthinkJiuzhaigousreputationattractsallofyoutocomehereforavidit.Ibelieve,whetheryouareafrequentvisitrorsomeonewhosimplyenjoysbeautifulplaces,thevisittoJiuzhaigouwillbeaperfectwaytoremembertheuniquesitesandbeautyofjiuzhaigouindaystocome.

JiuzhaigousceneryislicatedinjiuzhaigouCounty,theASbeTibetanandQiangNationalityAutonomousPrefectureinSichuanProvince.JiuzhaigouliterallymeansnineTibetanvillagegullies,whichareallscatteredinthescenicarea.ThenamesofthevillagesareHeye,Shuzheng,Zechawa,Heijiao,Panya,Yala,Jianpan,RexiandGuodu.

Jiuzhaigousceneryhastadenshapeduetothegeographicmovementinglaciations,earthquakesandcalcification.However,thereissomefolklorethatvividlydescribestheformationofJiuzhaigou.Hereisastory.Alongtomeago,amaleandfemalehillydeitiesfellinlovewitheachother.ThemaniscalledDageandwomanWonuosemo,whodecidedtoresideinJiuzhaigoubecausetheydeeplylovedJiuzhaigousbirdsandanimals,andforestsandmountains.UnexpectedlyadevilcalledShemozhafoundoutthatthefemaledeitywassobeautifulthathofoolinlovewithher,too.TwodevildidntlikethemaledeitytolivehereinJiuzhaigou.Thereforethedevilwagedawarinorsertodrivethemaledeityoutandmarrythefemaledeity.Afierebattleoccurredbetweenthedeityandthedevil.Duringthebattle,thefemaledeitywassnatchedawaybythedevil.Bewildered,thefemaledeitydroppeddowntothegroundherpreciousmirrorgivenbythemaledeity.Themirrorwasbrokenintooverahundredpieces,whichimmediatelyturnedintooverhundredhighmountainsandbeautifullakes.Thebattlecontinued,andthemaledeityandthedevilfoughtallthewayfrominnerJiuzhaigoutotheentrance.Despitethat,therewasnosignindicatingwhowouldwinthebattle.Atthiscriticalmoment,Zhayizhaga,thekingofmulti-mountainsarrivedtojointhefightonthesideofthemaledeity.Thekingfirstputahugescreen-shapedcliffbehindthedevilandthencrashedthedevilbeneaththecliff.Thedevilwasburiedthere,eithhisheadoffthecliff.AfterwardslicalpeoplecalledtheclifftheDevilCliff.NowotoscalledthePreciousMirrorCliff.SincethenJiuzhaigoureturnedtopeaceandlookedmorebeautifulduetothenewlyaddedoverahundredcolorfullakesandmountains.ThemanandwomandlivedtogetherinJiuzhaigouforeverastheimportantdeitiestosafeguardjiuzhaigou.

Jiuzhaigouis47kmlongfromthesouthtothenorth,29kmwidefromtheeasttothewest,coveringanareaof720sq.km.In1990Jiuzhaigoubecameoneof40bestscenicspotsinthecountry;in2000Jiuzhaigouwasevaluatedasoneofthefirstatate4A-levelsceneriesinChina;in1992JiuzhaigouwaslistedontheWorldBio-sphereReserve.

InJiuzhaigouscenicareatherearethreegulliesthatseemtobeintheshapeofy.Theredistributed108lakes,47splashedwaterfalls,12tirbi;emtscrea,s.5shoalsand3Tibetanvillages.Allthesescenicsitescreateauniquelandscapeofjiuzhaigou,toChinaandtherestoftheworld.

Ifyougetclosertoviewthecliffthatisoverathousand-rencliff,youmayseeabizarrefigureimageonthecliff.Whatdoesitlookalike?Itisadevilsface,anditisnowcalledthePrecilousMirrorCliff.DownthecliffisagullycalledZharugou,wherestandsZharuMonastery.InSichuanTibetanareaslocalTibetanpeoplebelieveinwhatcanbeproperlyudescribedasLamaism,anancientstrainofTantricIndianBuddhism,coupledwithTibetanShamanism.ItflourishesinregionsinhabitedbytheTibetanandMongolianpeople.DuringthereignofSongzanGapuinthe7thto9thcentury,monksfromIndiacrossedtheHimalayasthroughNepalandarrivedatTibettospreadTantrism.Tantrism,MahayanaandBon,theindigenousreligionofTibet,intermingledanddevelopedintoLamaismthatstronglybelievesinreincarnation.Lamameansteacherorsuperiorbeing.Alamamustbeamonk,butnotallmonkscanbecomelamas.Lamaismhasseveralsects:theYellow,theRed,theBlackandothers.TheYellowSect,foundedbyTsongkhapaintheearly15thcentury,andrapidlygrewintothedominantsectthankstothesupportoftheQinggovernment.TheYellowSectperfectedtheTibetanBuddhismandgreatlypromotedtheevolutionofthemergenceofgovetnmentadministrationwithreligiontheTihetanaBuddhainyourpresentlifetime.ThemonksinZharumonasterybelieveintheBlackSectBuddhismthatisalsocalledBon.ThereligiousactivityoftheBlackSect,muchmoreinfluencedbytheindigenousreligilon,hascenteredontheprimciplkesthateverythinghasspirit;theBlackSectfollowerspraytogainhappinessanddriveoutdisasters.

Yoymaybeawareofthedenseforestgrowingalongthesidesoftheroad.itmirrorstogetherthescenicsitesofmainplantsinJiuzhaigou.TheevergreenplantsconsistsofChinesepine,hemlock,firanddragonspruce;thered-leafplantsaremaple,littletiller,smoketreeandothers;theyellow-leafplantsarebirchm,golden-raintree,elm,larch,poplarmixtogetherinharmony,offeringarainbowofnaturalpicturesthateasilypleasetooureyes,ItiscommonlybelievethatthecolerfulplantsceneryisoneofthemainfeaturesmanifestedinJiuzhaigou.Asautumnarrives,theplantskeepchangingtheircolors.Ascolorfulleavesandforestsaremirroredonthelakesaround,thestunningcolorimagesseemtoallureviewersintoadreamlikeworldbecauseitistoobeautifultoabsorballofthemduringatime-limitedtour.

AsyouenterintoShuzhengscenicsite,andstartwalkingthroughit,thegarden-patternedlandscapemightinspireyourpassiontowritepoemsorpaintpictures.HereistheReedSea.Ifyoucloseyoureyes,youmayfeelasifyouwereintheregionofriversandlakesinsouthernChina.Actuallytheseaisakindofmoisturelandthatsuitsthegrowthofvariedwaterplants.Somefiahswimsintheshallowsea,andtheyhaveastrangename,callednakedcarportheyhasnoscales,butbelongtothefamilyofthecarp.

ThewaterinJiuzhaigouisabigattraction,andiscommonlyconsideredthesoulofJiuzhaigoubecauseotremaonsmuchlesstouchedbyhumanbeings.Ginerallythewaterissocleanthatyouycanseetothebottimevenat30mindepth.NowwewrriveatthefirstlakeinJiuzhaigoucalledShuanglonghai.Youcandimlyseetwocalcifiedlowerbanksintheshapeoftibbon.Oncewavesinthelakesurges,thetwobanksseemtowriggle.Thelocaldlegendsaysthattheyaretwoswimmingdragons.ItissaidthattherearefourdragonsinJiuzhaigou.Thedragonsinthelaksherearetwoofthefour,whotakechargeofrainingandhail.Maybebecausetheyhavenostrongsenseoftheirdutyresponsibility,theyoftenmakemistakes,andthereforethereisnorainwhenitshouldrain;thereisnohailwhenotshouldhail.ThereforeGeshaer,theTibetanherohassubduedthetwoevildragonsandimprisonedthematthebottomofthelake.

Thewaterhereiscloselyrelatedwithcalcification.ThewaterfromtheRizegouGullyhasrichcontentintheionofcalciumandmagnesiu,.Duetothesuitabletemperatureinthewaterhee,theflowingioneasilyturnsintoparticulatematters,whichsticktoplanktonortinysediments,anddepisitonthelowerearthbank.narrowmounds,trunksandtreebranchesinthebottom.Graduallycalcifiedsegmentshavefullycoveredtheobjects,forminguniquenaturalphenomenon.

ShuzhengWaterfall,oneofthemainscenicsites,is11minheightand62minwidth.Itisanunseenstreamfromthehighterracemeanderingamongtheforestsdowntotheedgeofthecliff.Asitapproachestheedge,trees,bushesandrockstheredeverttheunseenstreamintomaysub-ones.Thesub-streamsfalldownwards,presentingasplendidhugewaterfallandhangingoffthecliff.Downbelowthecliffgrowrichtreesandbushesandprotrudingrocks,andthewaterkeepsplashingofftheseobjectsinvariedshape.

Beyondthewaterfallisasmoothterrain.NeartheroadistheXiniuLakethatis2kmlongand18mdeep,thelargestoneinJiuzhaigou.Towardthesouthernendofthelakeisaforestwherethereisasimplebridgespanningacrossthelake.Nearbyisastream,andthewaterfromthestreamofferswsweetandrefreshingtastes.ThelocalTibetanresidentsthinkthatitisastpernaturalstream,foritissaidthatthewaterfromthestreamcanstopdiarrheaandquenchathirst.Thelegendhaditthatalongtimeago,jalamafromTibetarrivedhereonarhinoceros.Hewassosickthathecouldntwalkfurther.Sohedrankthewaterfromthestream.Unexpectedlyhewasfullyrecoveredandfeltrejuvenated.Afterwardsthelamadrovetherhinocerosdownintothelake,andhehimselfresidednearby.

NuorilangWaterfall,locatedbetweentheRizegouandShuzhengGullies,is30minheightand270minwidth.Nuorilangliterallymeansmagnificence.thewatercomesfromRizgouGully.Duringthehigh-waterseason,thecascadingwaterfalllproducesatremendousnoisethatrevetberatesinthegully.Asthewaterhitstheground,thesplashedliquikimmediatelymoveshighupintotheairintheformoffinedrops,whichhavebeenthrown,blownorprojected,formingasplendidwatercurtain.Visitorsoftenviewarainbowthatappearsinthecurtainwhilethesunshinesuponit.Inautumn,thewatergetsmuchless.However,thewaterfallpresentsanotherwonder.itseemsasifthecliffhangsacolorfulsilkclothmatchedwuthmulti-coloredbushedaround.

AsyouentertheNuorilangscenicsite,JinghaiLakeappearsatypursight.Thelake,925minlinghtand262minwidth,isencircledbyprecipitoushillsatthreesides,andtheolthersideisopenratherlikeanentrancegate.Thehillsbythelakelookgreenandverdant,Intheearlymorningwhenthereisnowide,thelakeisassmoothasamirror.Atthistimetheblueskyu,whiteclouds,hillsandtreesareallreflectedinthewater.Thesceneryinandoutsidethewateriscloselyjoined,anditishardtotellwhichistealoneorwhichisareflection.Thesceneryhasinspiredthepassionofmanyartistsandpoets.Afigureofspeechisusedherejustrighttodescribethesituation.Itsays,Insidethewaterbirdsfly,andupintheskyfishswims.Thedepthofthelakeisbetween10and20m,bittjewatersocleanthatyoucanseesofgreenalgaemoveandfishswimatthebottom,andtrunksinthewaterfullyhavebeencoveredbycalcifiedsedimentsthatlookratherlikehugecoralsinprettyshape.

AfteryouleaveJinghaiParkmyoucontinuetowalkforawhilebeforearrivingatanotherscenicsitebythenameofZhenzhutan.Theslope-shapedshoaliscalcified,160minwidthand200minlength.Thewaterflowsfreelydownwardsonthestrfaceoftheshoalthatappearsquiteunevenduetothecalcification.Asthewaterunrolls,itsplashesnumeroustinydropstatherlikerollsandstringsofsnow-whitepearlssprayingoverthewholeshoal.Moreover,poplars,williwsandazaleagroeallovertheupperpartoftheshoal.InMayitisamazingtoviewthescenicbeautyasyouwalkunderfoottherollingwaterspray,passingthroughthepatchesofazaleainblossomandlisteningtotheceadelessgentlesoundfromswayingwillows

WuhuaihaiLakeisineofthemainscenicsites,whereitisanidealplaceforphotographs.Thealgaeandbryophytegrowsverywellinthelake.Sedimentsactonthesenseoftheseplantsandgiverisetotheclustersofmulti-colorfulribbonsinthestrfaceofthelake.Whenmapleandsmoketreesaroundturnredinautumn,theirreflectiononthewaterresemblesragingflames.encirclingtheribbonsinmulti-colors.

TheroadnearWuhuaihaiLakespiralsupthesteepmountain.Asitturnstoacurveofthemountain,twolakesemergeinsight.OneiscalledXiongmaohaiandtheotherJianzhuhai.Thepandaandbamboolakesjointogether,whichindicatesthatpandasusedtoeatarrowbambooplantsanddrindwaterhere.Asyouknow,theplantisthepandaschieffoodsource,InwinterthePandaLakeisfrozen,buttheArrowLakeremainswhatitislikebefore.AtthelowerendofthelakeisaWaterfall,thehighestoneinJiuzhaigou.ItiscalledthePandasWaterfallthatresemblesaflightofthreestages.Thefirststahgeis19minheightand5minwidth;thesecondoneis24minheightand4minwidth;thethirdoneis19minheightand14minwidth.Waterfallsdownreboundingstagesoneafteranotherbeforecascadingintothedeepvalley.Inmidwinterthethreestageshangice-formeddrippingwater,whichformsvaried-patternsndlooksmagnificentasifyoufoundyourselvesintheice-carvingworld.

NotfarfromRizegouGuesthouseistheSwanLake.Itissaidthatswansusedtoresidehere.Atthepresenttime,thelakeremainssemi-marshlandeithwaterweedsfullycoveredonthesurface.Inspringthelakeresemblesacarpetofgreengrass;insummerthelakeissplendidlydecoratedwithblossomedflowers;inautumntheyelliwnessinthelakemeetstheeyeineveryside;inwinterthelakeremainsaworldoficeandsnow.NeartheupperendofthelakeisananotherlakecalledFangchaohai.Thelakeleadstohillswherethehillpeaksraiseonehigherthananother.However,amongthehillsthereisapealkthatobviouslytowers.ItisnamedtheSwordRockbecauseitlookssharponthetopandwideatlowerpart.Passingthefootofthetoweringpeak,youstarttowalkintoadenseprimevalforwst,whereyoufindyourselvesdeepintheboundlessexpanseoftrddsandplants,feelingaslightasifyouhadlefttheworldofmenandbecameimmortalbeings.Thereareanabundanceoftreesthatlookingupyouhardlyseethesunshine.Someofthetreescurvesdownlikeawnings;someloomuplikeobelisks;somestanderectlikemen;somereclinelikedragons.Beneathyourfeetaresoftmossesthatgrowinathickfurrymassonwetsoil.Whenyouwalkthroughtheforest,coolgreeneryrestsyoureyes,gentlebreezesoothsyourearsandtheutterquietnessrefreshesyourheart.

Wucaichi,100.8minlengthand56minwidth,isthesmallestlakeinJiuzhaigou.However,itiscommonlybelievedthatitisrichestincolor.Someonesaysthatitlookslikeanemeraldinlaidinsidethehills.Manyvisitorsusuallystoptositbythelakeandseemtofeeleaseatheart.Thewaterisruffled,anditsazuretranslucencebelowthewaterstretchestothebottombeforeyoureyes.youmaylookinamazimentatmulti-coloredclustersdisplayedatthebottowlikeinexhaustibletreasuressuppliedbytheGreator.Somevisitorsevendoubtwhetheritispaintedbythelocalpeoplw.ThewaterfromWucaichineitherincreasesnordiminishes.ItsoaksintothelakefromChanghaiLake.Asthesunxastslightsonthewater,sekimentsatthebottomactonthesenseofalgaeandbryophyteplantsandgiverisetothemulti-colorfulclustersasitoccursinWuhuaihaiLake.
