PlayingthatrolewasenoughforMr.Murrayuntilhereceivedhisdiagnosisin.Butnotlongafter,inthewakeofthefinancialcollapse,

hetestifiedbeforeaopenbriefingattheHouseofRepresentatives,wonderingaloudhowitwaspossiblethatprosecutorshadnotyetwoncriminalconvictionsagainstanyoneinchargeathisoldfirmsandtheircompetitors.

InJuneofthisyear,abrainscanshowedanewtumor,andMr.Murraydecidedtostopallaggressivemedicaltreatment.Forseveralyears,hehadthoughtaboutsomehowcodifyinghisnewfoundinvestmentprinciples,andMr.Goldiehadahunchthatwritingthebookwouldbealife-affirmingtaskforMr.Murray.
