shiftingsetofconditions.Thisiswhy,inpartatleast,theUSNationalClimateAssessment
saysthat:"Thereisno'one-sizefitsall'adaptation."Nevertheless,therearesomeactions
thatoffermuchandcarrylittleriskorcost.
Aroundtheworld,peopleareadaptinginsurprisingways,especiallyinsomepoor
countries.FloodshavebecomemoredamaginginBangladeshinrecentdecades.Mohammed
Rezwansawopportunitywhereotherssawonlydisaster.Hisnot-for-profitorganizationruns
100riverboatsthatserveasfloatinglibraries,schools,andhealthclinics,andareequipped
withsolarpanelsandothercommunicatingfacilities.Rezwaniscreatingfloating

IncreasingEarth'sreflectivenesscancooltheplanet.InsouthernSpainthesudden

locally,andactuallycooledtheregion.WhileSpainasawholeisheatingup
quicklytemperaturesnearthegreenhouseshavedecreased.Thisexampleshouldactasan
inspirationforallcities.Bypaintingbuildingswhite,citiesmayslowdownthewarming
process.
