Unit3Gettingalongwithothers3.3Grammar:關系代詞引導的定語從句第一部分:緊扣教材抓基礎一、定語從句及相關概念種類概述:在復合句中作定語,修飾主句或主句中某一名詞或代詞的從句叫定語從句。限制性定語從句是定語從句的分支。限制性定語從句表現(xiàn)為在意義上是先行詞不可缺少的定語,若省略,所修飾主句的內容就不完整或失去意義,和主句的關系十分密切,不可用逗號分開。先行詞是被定語從句修飾的名詞或代詞;關系詞是引導定語從句的詞,并代替先行詞在從句中作一定的句子成分。觀察定語從句體會其作用1.Doyouknowthemanthat/whoiswaitingoutside?2.Heshowedmethephotos(that/which)hetookonhistriptoXi’an.3.Simonisthepoormanwhosecarhasbeenstolen.(1)例句1中的畫線的詞在定語從句中作,不可省略。(主語)(2)例句2中的畫線的詞在定語從句中作,可以省略。(賓語)(3)例句3中的畫線的詞在定語從句中作。(定語)二、定語從句的關系詞關系詞先行詞充當從句成分關系代詞who人主語賓語whom人賓語whose人,物定語that人,物主語賓語表語which物主語賓語as人,物主語賓語關系副詞when時間時間狀語where地點地點狀語why原因原因狀語Godhelpsthosewho/thathelpthemselves.上帝幫助自強的人。Thisisthefactorywhich/thatweoncevisited.這是我們曾經參觀過的工廠。Therecamealotofchildren,mostofwhomIdidn’tknow.來了許多孩子,大多數(shù)我都不認識。That’sthemanwhosehousehasburneddown.那就是那個房屋燒毀的人?!菊`區(qū)警示】(1)在定語從句中作動詞賓語時或介詞后用whom,不用who,口語中whom前無介詞時可用that或who代替。(2)關系代詞在從句中作賓語時,通??梢允÷?。Theman(whom/who/that)yousawjustnowisourmanager.你剛才看見的男子是我們的經理。(3)whose既可以指人也可以指物,既可以說“某人的”,也可以說“某物的”。Idon’twanttopayforthebookwhosecoverislost.我不想為這本沒有封面的書付款。三、定語從句知多少:(一)只用that不用which引導定語從句的情況。先行詞前有序數(shù)詞或形容詞用最高級修飾,或先行詞本身就是序數(shù)詞或形容詞最高級時,用that不用which。ThisisthebestfilmthatIeverseen.先行詞是不定代詞all,little,few,much,something,anything,everything,none,nothing,noone,nobody,some等用that不用which。(注意something后可用which)。Allthatcanbedonehasbeendone.先行詞被all,every,no,some,any,little,much,oneof,theonly,thevery,theright,thelast,few,just等修飾時,用that不用which。Alltheguststhatwereinvitedtoherweddingwereimportantpeople.先行詞即有人又有物,兼顧兩者,用that不用which。Theytalkedaboutthepersonsandthingsthattheyrememberedatschool.主句是以who或which開頭的疑問句時,用that不用which。Whoisthemanthatisstandingbythegate?當先行詞在主句中作表語或關系代詞在定語從句中作表語時,用that不用which。Shenzhenisnolongerthecitythatitusedtobe.主句是therebe句型時,修飾主語的定語從句用that不用which。Thereisaseatinthecornerthatisstillfree.有兩個定語從句時,一個從句的關系代詞已用which,另一個要用that。Thecountrybuiltupafactorywhichproducesthingsthathaveneverseenbefore.用作關系副詞,修飾表示時間的名詞,如day,time,moment等代替when時,用that不用which。Ithappenedonthedaythat(when)hewasborn.(二)只用which不用that引導定語從句的情況。關系代詞前有介詞時,用which不用that。Thechaironwhichshesatismadeofwood.引導非限制性定語從句且先行詞指物時,用which不用that。Football,whichisaveryinterestinggame,isplayedallovertheworld.先行詞后面有插入語時,用which不用that。HereistheEnglishgrammarbookwhich,asI'vetoldyou,willhelpyouimproveyourEnglish.先行詞本身就是that時,用which不用that。What'sthatwhichflashedintheskyjustnow?代表主句中謂語的整體概念時,用which不用that。Hecanswiminthesea,whichIcan't.代表整個主句時,用which不用that。Hebrokemycup,whichmademeangry.(三)只用who而不用that引導定語從句的情況。先行詞是指人的不定代詞時,如one,ones,anyone,noone,those,all,nobody,anybody,none等時,用who不用that。Peoplealllikethosewhohavegoodmanners.在therebe句型中,多用who指代人。TherearesomepeoplewhowanttohaveholidaysinHainan.當先行詞指特定的人時,關系代詞多用who,不指特定的人時多用that。Theauntwhocametoseeuslastweekismyfather'syoungersister.在非限制性定語從句中作主語時,用who不用that。ProfessorWang,whoisoversixty,stillworksharddayandnight.當先行詞有較長的后置定語或在被分割的定語從句中時,不用who不用which。ProfessorSmithiscomingsoonwhowillgiveusatalkonhowtolearnEnglish.(四)ofwhom,ofwhich,whose的用法解析。whose的用法①whose引導定語從句,后應緊跟名詞,構成名詞短語。Thebay,whosefatherisanengineer,studiesveryhard.②whose引導定語從句時,先行詞既可是人,也可指物。Thebicycle,whosebrakewasdamaged,hasnowbeenrepaired.③whose在定語從句中與它修飾的名詞一起可作介詞賓語,可以與介詞一起放在先行詞與從句之間。在whose引導的定語從句中,可用ofwhich代替whose,但詞序不同,即“whose+名詞=the+名詞+of+which”;而用ofwhom代替時只能指人,有時可以與whose互換。Theboss,inwhosefactoryMary'sfatheronceworked,iskindtoher.Helivesintheroom,whosewindow(thewindowofwhich)facessouth.下列情況只用ofwhich或ofwhom,而不用whose引導定語從句。①定語從句的主語是some,many,few,little,much,most等詞時,用ofwhich/whom,不用whose。Herearethequestions,someofwhichIthoughtdifficultforyou.②定語從句的主語是all,both,neither,each,none等詞時,用ofwhich/whom,不用whose。Hehastwosons,bothofwhomaredoctors.③定語從句的主語是表示數(shù)量的詞時,用ofwhich/whom,不用whose。Herearemanybooks,twoofwhichheborrowed.(五)as與which都可以代指主句中的一部分或整個句子的內容,有時可以互換。Hemarriedher,as(which)wasnatural.as導的定語從句可以放在句首,而which則不能。Asisknowntousall,Chinaisdevelopingrapidly.as表示“正如,正像”,而which無此意。此時,as從句中常有know,expect,happen,pointout,plan,suggest等單詞或短語。Hecamebackhomelate,asweexpected.注意:as引導的定語從句常見句式有asisknowntoall,asisoftenthecase,asismentionedabove,asisannounced當先行詞被thesame,such修飾時,定語從句需用as引導。Itissuchadifficultproblemasnoneofuscanworkout.注意:但是當先行詞被thesame...as指同樣或同類的事物;thesame...that指同一個事物。ThisisthesamewatchasIlost.(不是同一塊表)ThisisthesamewatchthatIlost.(是同一塊表)(六)“介詞+關系代詞”結構(1)“介詞+關系代詞”可引導限制性定語從句,也可引導非限制性定語從句。Wewenttohearthisfamoussinger,aboutwhomwehadheardmanystories.(2)“介詞+關系代詞”結構中的介詞可以是in,on,about,from,for,through,with,to,at,against,without,by,of等。介詞放在關系代詞前,關系代詞只能用whom或which。OldHarryisanordinary-lookingman,onthenoseofwhomisapairofthickglasses.(3)介詞位于定語從句末尾時,可用that/which(指物),that/whom/who(指人)作從句中介詞的賓語。ThisisthehousethatLuXunoncelivedin.=ThisisthehouseinwhichLuXunoncelived.(4)“介詞+關系代詞”結構可代替when,where,why,that等。但要注意介詞的位置變化以及相應的關系詞的變化。Thatisthecollegeatwhichheworks.whichheworksat.whereheworks.thatheworksat.heworksat.(5)“介詞+關系代詞”結構在定語從句中可作狀語或定語,并可與別的名詞一起作狀語。Don'tgetclosetothehouse,theroofofwhichisunderrepaired.(6)“介詞+關系代詞”在含有被動結構的定語從句中作狀語,表示動作的執(zhí)行者。Therascalbywhomthelittleboywasbeatenwasarrest
