whether/if及疑問詞引導的賓語從句

1.whether/if引導的賓語從句

whether與if意為“是否“,在我們表達不確定的概念時,用whether/if引導賓語從句。此時

whether/if在從句中不作句子成分,但不能省略。一般情況下可以互換使用。

Heaskedif[whether]wewantedadrink.他問我們是否想喝一杯。

Hedidn'ttellmeif[whether]hewouldcome.他沒有告訴我他是否會來。

1)在介詞后、不定式之前、以及直接與ornot連用時,只能用whether。

Itdependsonwhethertheletterarrivesintime.這取決于信是否來得及時。

Ididn'tknowwhethertolaughortocry.我真是哭笑不得。

IwillwritetoyouwhetherornotIcancome,我能不能來,我將寫信告訴你。

注意:若不是直接與ornot用在一起,則有時也可用if:

Idon'tknowwhether[if]hewillwinornot.我不知他是否能贏。

2)當引導一個否定的賓語從句時,通常用if而不用whethero

Idon'tcareifitdoesn'train.我不在乎天是否下雨。

注意:在個別詞語(如wonder,notsure等)后的從句否定式有時也可用whether引導。

Iwonderif[whether]heisn'tmistaken.我想知道他是否錯了。

2.疑問詞引導的賓語從句

賓語從句還可以由疑問詞what,which,who,where,when,how,why等引導。疑問詞在句中

有實際意義,且在賓語從句中充當句子成分,不能省略。疑問代詞在從句中作主語、賓語、表語和

定語等;疑問副詞在句中作狀語。

Idon'tknowwhatweshoulddo.我不知道我們應該做什么。
