1Scope
Thisstandarddefinestherequirementsfortheflammabilityofmaterialsorpartsinthevehicleinte-rioronthebasisofapplicableinternationalsafetylawsandregulations.
Thisstandarddoesnotdefinemarket-specificaccreditation,typeapproval,orcertificationrequire-ments.
Thisstandardappliestoallpartsthattheoccupantmaycomeintocontactwithinthevehicleinteri-orandthespace13mm(0,5inches)behindthecontactablesurfaces.ThevehicleinterioristhespaceofthevehiclethatissuppliedwithfreshairfromtheHVACunit.
Thepurchasercandefinefurtherpartsthatmustcomplywiththerequirementsspecifiedinthisstandard.

Theindividualcountry-specificregulationscanbesimplifiedintoasetofoverarchingrequirements.Ineachindividualcase,thecountry-specificregulationisalwaysbinding.

Theminimumrequirementslistedbelowmustbemetbyallinvolvedmaterials/partsinthevehicleinterior.

IfalldeterminedindividualvaluesyieldaburningrateofBRi<80mm/min,then,inadditiontoful-fillingtherequirement,thegreatestvaluedeterminedmustbeindicatedasBmaxTL1010inthedocu-mentation(see

Ifjustoneofthedeterminedburningrates(fromthe5non-agedspecimensundertest)isBRi≥80mm/min,thefollowingadditionalrequirementapplies:

6.3.1
Flammability
Testrequirements
Thetestsmustbeassignedtoatestlaboratorythatworksaccordingtotheapplicablestandards,legalregulations,andtestprocedures.
Theflammabilitytestmustbedocumentedforallpartsinthenewcondition.
Fortextilematerialsburningataburningratelargerthan80mm/min,thetestsmustadditionallybeperformedonagedspecimens(168hat[80±2]°C).
Ifthematerialshavedirection-dependentproperties,atleast5specimensmustbetestedinthe
longitudinalandtransversedirections(e.g.,warpandweftdirectionsinthecaseofwovenfabrics).Reductionsinthescopeoftheburningtestsonsimilarpartswhosesurfacesarelaminatedwithsemi-finishedproducts(leather,leatherette,textiles,slushskin,coatingsystems,etc.)ofdifferentcolorandwhentestingleft-handdrive(LHD)/right-handdrive(RHD)vehiclevariantsarepermissi-ble,providedthatthecontractorandthepurchaserhavejointlyagreedonwhichvariantmustun-dergofulltestinganddocumentationandthecontractorconfirmstheOKflammabilityofallothervariants.
Additionalcompilingoftestsforpartsmadeofidenticalmaterialsmustbeagreeduponwiththepurchaser.Part-specifictestreportsmustalwaysbecreated.
Unlessagreedotherwise,thefollowingsequencemustbeadheredto:
Selectionofthecolorvariantofpartswithlaminatedsurfacetobetested:
1.Thesupplierofthesemi-finishedproductmustprovidethetestresultsforallsemi-finishedproductstothecontractor.
2.Basedonthis,thecontractoragreeswiththepurchaseronthevarianttobetestedanddocu-mentedinstalledinthewholepart.Atleastthevariantwiththehighestburningratemustbeselectedintheindividualtestforthisandtestedinstalledinthewholepart.
3.Thecontractorperformstestinganddocumentationforthevariantconfirmedbythepurchas-er.
4.ThecontractorconfirmstheOKflammabilityofallpartnumbers.
TestingofLHD/RHDvehiclevariants
1.TheLHDvehiclevariantmustundergotestinganddocumentation.
2.TheresultsoftheLHDvehiclevariantcanbecarriedoverfortheRHDvehiclevariant(provi-dedthematerialstructuresareidentical).Thisalsoappliestoreflectionsymmetricalvariants(e.g.,leftkneebolsterforrightkneebolster).
3.ThecontractorconfirmstheOKflammabilityofallpartnumbers.

6.3.3Specimen
Forpartsforwhichitisnotfeasibletoprepareaspecimenofatleast100mminlength,thetestmustbeperformedontestsheets.Thetestsheetsmustbe2mmto3mmthick.
6.3.4Climateandconditioning
Itmustbenotedherethattheclimaticconditions(relativehumidityandtemperature)ofthetestspacevaryfromcountrytocountryintheofficialspecifications.Inordertomeetallspecificationswithasingletestseries,thisresultsinanarrowwindowfortheclimaticconditionsinthetest
space.Beforetheburningtest,thespecimensmustbeconditionedfor24hunderthespecifiedclimaticconditions.Thisincludestheburningtestafteraging.
